Gwena is
a Thoroughbred, formerly raced, now owned by Jodi Louderback.

We started groundwork in Jodi's backyard, which Gwena shared with her yearling
filly, another yearling, a pony, raucous chicken, and she could watch the
children play outside the corral. But Gwena wasn't quite ready
to be a safe riding horse. Training this OTTB (off-track Thoroughbred)
includes trailer loading, groundwork, increasing her emotional confidence
and physical fitness, dealing with herd-bound behavior, round pen work,
dealing with head tossing, rearing, encouraging forwards movement... to
becoming a soft and willing partner under saddle. |
